J D BIRLA INSTITUTE RECEIVES AWARD  IN  INTERIOR DESIGNING DEPARTMENT
J.D. Birla Institute affiliated to Jadavpur University has been offering B.Sc. (Hons.) course in Interior Designing since 2009. The Institute has been granted autonomy by UGC and has been re-accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC.
The final year students of ID department recently won the ‘Society Interiors Design Competition & Award’ organized by Society Interiors, Magna Publishing Co. Ltd. in the ‘Commercial Category’ (1st and 2nd Prize) as well as the ‘Residential Category’ (2nd Prize).“Interior designing is a specialized course which is gaining popularity and relevance in the current times and very few colleges offer it as a degree programme. In a short time, our students are making a mark for themselves and recently six of them were selected by Godrej & Boyce Mfd. Co. Ltd. during their recruitment drive.I congratulate all my students and staff for this achievement” said  DR. Deepali Singhee principle.

The Interior Designing course is spread over six semesters and the degree is awarded by Jadavpur University. These course  focuses on  several aspects of Interior Design including architecture, residential and commercial space design, building materials and furniture design, graphics and basic drawing, restoration and renovation of building interiors, 3D max, professional practices and building services among others. The College has well equipped laboratories to conduct the course which is taken by competent and experienced faculties.

The students have been short listed to participate at the all India level that will held in Mumbai from 27th to 28th February, 2015.

 The Shri Shikshayatan School is commemorating the 60th year of the school, JUBILARE 2015. The month of January has events galore, which began with a Panel Discussion on the 3rdJanuary, followed by a number of Inter-School competitions.  
The school organized FLIPBOOK (POWERPOINT PRESENTATION) which started from 21th January 2015 and went on to 22nd January, amongst the junior & senior students from 10:00 am onwards. The power point presentation showcased different skills of texts, pictures, animation and technicality of the students.
The categories were sub divided in to three groups Category A, B and C with topics Flesh fun with cartoons, Swach Bharat Abhiyan and Women Empowerment respectively. The chief guest was Mr P.D. Sebastian with him the eminent judges were Ms. Oindrilla Dutt, Mr. Biswanath Das Gupta, and Mr. Subroto Bhowmik.
Various schools participated in this event, Birla High School, Apeejay School (Saltlake), Apeejay School (Park Street), Mahadevi Birla Worls Academy, Marwari Balika Vidyalaya, Lakhsmipath Singhania Academy, Shri Shikshayatan School, Sushila Birla Girls’ School and Morden High for Girls.

CS Atul Hasmukhrai Mehta  is B.Com, BGL and  a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

CS Mehta started his practice as founder of Mehta and Mehta in the 1996 and has been in the industry ever since. Initially, he has served the industry for 6 years as Company Secretary ,in various industries. Along with Secretarial Department, he also headed various departments like, Legal, Compliance, HR .

Thereafter, he laid his pioneering step in the area of consultancy and practice and set up the firm Mehta & Mehta . Since, past 16 years, he is practicing as company secretary , partner  Mehta & Mehta.

He was also Chairman of ICSI – CCGRT (2011-2014).  He was the  Chairman of Western India Regional Council (WIRC of ICSI) in 2009. He was Central Council Member for the 11th Council of the ICSI. Mr. Atul Mehta, is actively associated with Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and the activities of the Central Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He is regular faculty member for Seminars, study circle and several training programs of ICSI. He is also speaker at seminars organized by other institutions like IMC, SME Chambers etc.

CS Mamta Binani, Vice President, The ICSI

CS Mamta Binani has been elected as  Vice- President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India  for the year 2015 w.e.f. 19th January, 2015.

She is a Commerce graduate and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Ms. Binani  has been a meritorious student throughout her education career. She was an All India Topper in the Intermediate Examinations of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, amongst all the Lady Candidates in India and had ranked 14th on an All India Basis. In the Final Examinations, she stood all India first in the subject “Company Law”. She is practising as a Company Secretary for over 15 years now.

Ms. Binani is a facilitator for some very prestigious programmes conducted by the Professional Institutes of India. She is a regular and acclaimed speaker in the professional forums on subjects of academic interest including inter-personal & communication skills. She takes keen interest in delving into corporate and professional issues and is consulted on various contemporary matters by the Industry. She is also an empanelled trainer with ICICI Bank Limited, Mutual Fund Industry, training people in products and processes. She is hugely associated with the financial sector, education sector and is an experienced mentor and counsellor to young professionals & students. She is an Independent Director and Advisor to a Company which is completely into XBRL development and services.

Ms. Binani has been the Chairperson of the Eastern India Regional Council of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India in 2010. She is the first lady to have held the  position, amongst all the    3 Institutes, namely The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, The Institute of Cost Accountants of India and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, in the  Eastern Region.

She  has been conferred with the "Bharat Nirman Awards" in the year 2010 for "Excellence in Professional Services" and is the first Company Secretary to have received this prestigious award. She also received the "Tejaswini Award" in the year 2010. She writes for leading journals and magazines on a regular basis and contributes articles and papers in various house journals of professional institutes, on topics of varied interests. She is very regular with her informative & academic blogs.

The Shri Shikshayatan School is commemorating the 60th year of the school,
JUBILARE 2015. The month of January has events galore, which began with a Panel Discussion on the 3rdJanuary, followed by a number of Inter-School competitions.
The primary and the senior section of the school performed street plays on the 19th of January, Monday, 10:00 am onwards. Street plays are essentially performed to spread awareness, with this thought in mind; Shri Shikshayatan has taken the initiative to uphold two burning social issues of the day – “Women Empowerment” and “Conservation of Environment”. From the genesis of the school in 1954, Shri Shikshayatan has dedicated itself to the education of girl students, by ensuring simultaneous development of the Spirit, Mind and Body.
College Square and Y Channel were the two venues where the primary and the senior sections performed the street plays. The theme chosen by the primary section was “Emancipation of Women”, life skill, performed by 22 students. The theme of the senior section was “Environment” and the title was “Chalo letsmake our Prithvi Green”. The message spread by the students was to save bio     – diversity through afforestation. The characters of this play were biotic and abiotic ones, performed by 11 students.

As always Shri Shikshayatan School takes the endeavour to encompass academics and the development and understanding of global themes among its students and thereby enhances their holistic growth.

Shri Shikshayatan School a unit of Shikshayatan Foundation is celebrating its
60th year - Jubilare 2015 an Inter School fest.  The celebrations started from 3rd January, 2015 i.e. the
Foundation Day of Shri Shikshayatan School, and will be continued till 18th April, 2015 according to Bratati Bhattacharya, Secretary General, Shikshayatan Foundation, and also the secretary of the school. The celebrations will be viewed with different events which includes sports, cultural event, art & craft and academic.
The fest took a leap with the Chess Championship – a mind game amongst the junior & senior students from 10:00 am onwards, students consisted of classes from IV to XI. This “Mind game” motivates and promotes not only fun, but it also develops academic and life skills as said by Bratati Bhattacharyya. The mind game was designed in such a way so as to give fair chance to each and every player and there was no knockout. There were around 82 participants from different schools in Kolkata according to Indranee Ganguly, Principal Shri Shikshayatan School.  Grand master Dibyendu Barua and award winner Arjuna along with Grand Master Sandipan Chanda was the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour.  64 Squares one of the new and unique chess club in Kolkata conducted the chess competition. The 64 squares chess club associates with prestigious Kalighat Milan Sangha Club and few NGOs catering to the needs of young, needy and old enthusiastic chess lovers as said by Bratati Bhattacharyya.

Kolkata 14th Januray 2015 : Bookmycab.com today announced that they have introduced the “SOS” button on their mobile app. This unique feature has been introduced for enhancing the safety of passengers.
Bookmycab.com has introduced “SOS” button on their latest version of the App. SOS is the international Morse code distress signal and a short form for "Save Our Souls". The passenger can register upto 3 mobile numbers and email ids where a message will automatically be sent if he / she is in trouble.
Bookmycab.com has proactively added more safety features such asalerting the Police by automatically placing a phone call to the number ‘100’ which is police helpline and also alerting the bookmycab.com control room. The control room will pull out all the details of the taxi used by the passenger on real-time basis. This information is also shared with all the 3 registered mobile numbers via sms and email.
A sample SMS is:                                                         
“SOS! Your friend Mr. Rakesh, +91 9000000000 travelling with bookmycab is in need of your help. Taxi Number MH-00-XX-1234, Driver Mr. Suresh, +91 8000000000. His last location was at Airport today at 05:08 pm”
Bookmycab.com has also ensured that the sms without location can be sent if the person is in an area where no data / gps facility is available. In that case a simple sms will be send to the 3 mobile users and bookmycab.com control room with the last known location.
On the development of introduction of this unique feature, Mr. Avinash Gupta, Founder and CEO of Bookmycab.com, said,  "We have always kept Passenger safety in mind and added several other innovative features in our mobile APP. Kolkata January 8, 2015: Essel Group, India’s leading business conglomerate has submitted a Letter of
Intent (LOI) to the Government of West Bengal to develop 2 Smart Cities and series of infrastructural and urban development projects for the state. Submitting the document, Essel Groupannounced to commit investment ofRs. 10,000 crore towards transforming 2 major cities of West Bengal namely Saltlake City and New Town. The group has also shown keen interest to participate ininfrastructural, urban renewal and socially relevant projects worth Rs. 10,000 crore through competitive bidding under Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model and/or EPC (Engineering, procurement and construction) model, as mentioned in the LOI submitted to the government of West Bengal.

This is the company’s 6th outlet in the city with two more on the anvil. MFCWL’s network size in the East encompasses 104 dealerships and the company hopes to expand this to 120 by year end.
The new outlet, Mukesh Automotives, is spread across 40000 sq. ft and is located at 1086/1, Madurdah, Kalikapur. It was inaugurated by Dr. Nagendra Palle, CEO, Mahindra First Choice Wheels Ltd. Yatin Chadha, Senior Vice President -  Mahindra First Choice Wheels Ltd. was also present.
