The first glimpse of the Historic Documentary
film “1971: India’s Finest Hour” revealed at iLEAD
It is
the 45th anniversary of the gory 1971 war between India and Pakistan
which led to the liberation of Bangladesh.
The Indian military operation of 1971 has been described as a “lightning campaign” and is studied in military
institutions across the world. The National Defence College of Pakistan in a
document on the 1971 war wrote:
“The Indians
planned and executed their offensive against East Pakistan in a textbook
manner. It was a classic example of through planning, minute coordination and
bold execution.”
The Indian campaign to liberate Bangladesh from West Pakistan initiated
genocide and oppression was a remarkable one where different departments of the
Indian government, all wings of the Armed Forces, the Border Security Force,
the Defence Ministry, External Affairs Ministry, Home Ministry, Finance
Ministry, Railways and RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) worked together like a
well-oiled machine and surprised the world with what could be achieved in just
13 days. 93,000 fully armed Pakistan soldiers from some of their most dreaded
division, e.g. 22nd Baluch Regiment, having ammunition to fight for
six months, surrendered unconditionally in full public view of the world.
ilEAD’s ‘1971: India’s Finest Hour’ is a must watch film for every Indian
to witness India’s heroic role in Bangladesh Liberation War. The film would be
premiered at iLEAD Auditorium on 16th December, 2016 with some of
the most prominent citizens of Kolkata, (Beaurocrats, army personnels, film
dignitaries, academicians and scholars) to commemorate the 45th
Vijay Diwas of Bangladesh Liberation.
The film is essentially made with footage and materials collected from
National Film Archive of India, Associated Press News Archives, British Pathe
News, Movietone News and other global news agencies and journalists to inspire
and educate the current generation about India’s finest hour.
