Shri Shikshayatan gets CBSE status

Kolkata, 2014:  In the year 1954, Shri Shikshayatan School was established up to class X. Due to the selfless service and the contribution of the erstwhile and present Trustees, the School now runs on a sprawling campus with Primary section, Secondary Section and Higher Secondary section, Auditorium and, Labs. It has made the school an acclaimed one not only in Kolkata but has also earned a prestigious place amongst the reputed institutions of the nation. At present the school strength is nearly 4000 Girl students.
Shri Shikshayatan School was affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education, West Bengal.
The school has been making attempts to switchover to Senior Secondary level since 2007. Finally the request for changes was registered with the Central Board of Secondary Education on 22.8.2012 followed by an on-line application on 27.9.2012.
The sanction for Composite Provisional Affiliation for Secondary School Examination and Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Board was received on 15th May 2014 to be effective from April 01, 2014. The Affiliation Code Number allotted to us is 2430151.
The school will follow the syllabus prescribed by NCERT/CBSE to be supported by Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) up to Classes X. The subjects sanctioned to be introduced at Senior Secondary classes include Science, Commerce and Humanities with English, Hindi and Bengali as languages.

Shri Shikshayatan School was founded on 3rd January 1954, by its founder body the Marwari Balika Vidyalaya Society. As a linguistic minority institution, it enjoys protection under article 30(1) of the Indian Constitution. Although it was established mainly to impart education to the girls of the Marwari Community ,as envisaged by the visionary zeal of social worker and a freedom fighter; late Sitaram Sakseria – over the years it has opened its doors to welcome girls of all communities and religions in its fold. Today, Shri Shikshayatan School has evolved into a secular institution of high repute and has become a melting pot of diverse cultural, religious and ethnic background.
