Agri Tech Start-up DeHaat Strengthens its presence in West Bengal; plans to reach out to 5 million farmers in India by 2024

Web and mobile interfaces connect small farmers with a network of suppliers of farm input and equipment

Aiming to empower farmers, DeHaat, one of the fastest-growing agri-tech start-ups, announced today that it has established its presence in West Bengal as well. With the opening of 60 centres in the state, DeHaat is now present in Nadia, North 24 Pargana, Hooghly and Murshidabad regions. The agri-tech start-up is on a mission to provide complete agricultural services, solutions and advisory to farmers that ensure optimum yields, better market linkage, correct pricing, for their crops along with complete elimination of any sort of malpractices towards them.

DeHaat provides technologies to support, educate and strengthen the farming community in the country and aims to reach out to 5 million farmers by the end of 2024. Recognized and felicitated by NASSCOM, Niti Aayog and Bill Gates Foundation, DeHaat caters to over 4 Lakh farmers, micro-entrepreneurs (MEs) and farming businesses across the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The agri-tech start-up has developed web and mobile interfaces which connect small farmers with a network of small suppliers of farm input and equipment. DeHaat’s website and mobile app also help farmers with associated agricultural input companies and bulk buyers of agricultural produce.

Talking about expansion plans in the state, Shashank Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO, DeHaat said, “Our prime objective is to ensure the overall well-being of the farming community by creating new and better opportunities for them. We offer the best quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides at reasonable and affordable prices. As we have achieved the milestone of 60 DeHaat Centers in West Bengal, now we aim to add 1000 micro-entrepreneurs to our network in the current financial year.”

With a team of over 600 people, DeHaat serves more than 1500 retailers and farming businesses in the input, output, and cattle feed segments offering material inputs, technical advisory and market linkage for farm produce across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

The platform aggregates corn, wheat, rice, bajra, Banana, Pineapple, apple and all sorts of vegetables from farmers on its network and directly supplies to over 500 bulk buyers, including retail chains and e-commerce companies.
