Nusrat Jahan inaugurates 21 Pally’s `Durga Kotha’ Gallery


Smt Nusrat Jahan, MP, inaugurated 21 Pally Sarbojananin Durgotsab Samiti, Ballygunge, gallery `Durga Kotha’ at the Patha Bhawan School in the presence of His Excellency, Andre Ford, Consul General of Australia, Ms Risa Tamura, Vice Consul, Japan, and Honorary Consulates of Hungary, Philippines and Maldives.
A life-sized statue of actor Prasenjit was also formally put on display adjacent to the Puja in his presence. The `Durga Kotha’ Gallery, curated by Mr Abhijit Sarkar, showcased the lesser-known aspects of the Durga Puja tradition. “There are so many things associated with Durga Puja which are not known to us. This Gallery is an attempt to inform those aspects,” said Mr Suresh Sethiya, President, 21 Pally Durgotsab Samiti.
“This year’s theme of 21 Pally is Fun but we thought, along with entertainment, we could also use this opportunity to inform and highlight to the pandal hoppers of our rich traditional past,” said Mr Anurag Chirimar, Vice President, 21 Pally.
