India shines yet again for the international tourist; as IRCTC goes global

IRCTC takes one more giant step in adding convenience to international travellers, as it allows international credit and debit cards issued outside the country, for booking of e-tickets through their site.
IRCTC is India’s largest eCommerce and eTicketing Corporation and provides end-to-end travel solutions for domestic as well as International travellers. It manages the complete domestic ticket bookings for Indian Railways, provides airline bookings, hotel bookings as well as other ancillary services for the passengers and is one of key pillars for driving tourism in India. India, with its vast frontiers and overall cultural as well as historical diversity, offers International passengers a unique destination for holidaying. One of the key issues faced by them was their inability to make payments for domestic bookings on IRCTC using their International credit/debit cards.
ATOM, one of India’s leading online and mobile payments platform, has worked with IRCTC to offer acceptance of International credit and debit cards on IRCTC’s ticketing platform. This service allows the international passengers to use their cards for performing any transaction on IRCTC portal. This service was unveiled jointly by IRCTC, Visa and atom at a function held today.
Unveiling of this service will propel India straight into the global tourism road map and allow easier access and flow of tourists into India.
Commenting on the development,
Dr. A.K. Manocha, Chairman & Managing Director, IRCTC said, “ATOM has deployed a robust technology and world class Fraud Protection Mechanism and our technology team has made necessary changes along with them to enable such transactions.”
Explaining the technology at the backend, Mr. Dewang Neralla, CEO,
ATOM said, “We are thankful to the team at IRCTC to choose ATOM for their global ticketing window. Our platform is a highly scalable and adhering to the latest industry standards in the payments industry and we are sure we would be able to match up to IRCTC’s high technology standards. We have also signed up and integrated our platform with one of the best Risk Management platform globally, Decision Manager from Cybersource, which would enable to manage risk and fraud pro-actively.”
ATOM will now be deploying this technology to enable online transaction from international customers across Indian e-commerce sites offering goods and services to foreigners and NRIs.
