said that we live in a world of instant gratification and so in this
world now Patience is a virtue which is very desirable, so as responsible professional s we all need to have patience. He
said that today regulatory scenarios have undergone a change and the new
companies bill also brings in a lot of change. He said that the directors of a
company rely on a Company Secretary for compliance and other follow up with
fulfilment of regulatory requirements. He also the The Board of Directors asks
a Company Secretary for advice and they expect the CS to provide good advice for
the betterment of the business. He said that the new companies bill provides
for CS to appear before NCLT and so it
expands the horizon of CS. He also mentioned that the board of directors of the
company expects the CS to provide leadership to business and the CS in his part
should push them to do the right thing
CS SN Ananthasubramanian , President, the ICSI in Presidential Address
said that , “We are entering a world that
increasingly rewards individual aspiration and persistence and can measure
precisely who is contributing and who is not and It is in this context that
this 2nd ICSI Annual Convocation-2013 is being held . He advised that , each of
the students should consider investing in oneself so as to
witness the transformation which will happen in each one.
He said that “before starting investing in oneself , a
SAP-Self Awareness Program to identify traits, angularities, sweet-spots,
strengths etc should be undertaken . This investment could be anything, it may
be in the form of additional languages, grooming skills, dramatics, music and
many more because as one grows in life, the need to keep
reinventing oneself is far more paramount.”
President, Council of the ICSI said that , “with this investment which
is essentially long term one will gain market appreciation over time. Like
companies which practise good governance gain in their value overtime and
provide long-term gains in the form of dividends and price-appreciation, you
too govern yourself well. For that remember one thing-you will be known in the
society by what you are as a person and what you can deliver and this calls for
strict adherence to ethical values”.
President, ICSI also added
that ,”The need to remain credible is the most critical challenge today as your
words hold out for you, your employers, your clients etc. Being credible is
nothing else but doing what you say and saying what you do. The ability to
distinguish between right and wrong has always been the most challenging
assignment in life which is never taught in the classrooms”
CS Anil Murarka,Council member,ICSI in his address said that profession of Company Secretary is achieving
new heights. He said That the world is
become globalised, there is increased regulation and newer process are helping
in the growth of CS profession. The.new companies bill will also help in the

developed economy the leadership, should be in the hands of young people and
this youngsters should have a constant urge to excel.
CS Ashok Pareek,Council Member,ICSI
in his welcome address. He advised the students that
they should take care of performance in whatever they do and the
wealth would take care of itself. He reiterated the fact that, “the path
to success is through hard work and perseverance and not through accumulation
of wealth. He also stated that , “There are instances of overnight success
stories, which ultimately doomed as the persons involved chased the wealth and
lost track of their real success. “To Excel in the right sense is chasing your
professional / personal goals and letting the results take care of themselves,
making the process of achievement supreme and making the result irrelevant. He
advised the students to perfect the process of performance and not to allow the
pressure of the result to choke your performance”.
CS Deepak Khaitan , Chairman, EIRC of ICSI in his address defined the term “Convocation”

which is expected from them as members of this prestigious profession.
CS M S Sahoo, Secretary ICSI making concluding remarks and proposing a vote of thanks said that, “it is our attitude that
determines the altitude to which we could reach.
Similarly, it is our attitude and not the aptitude that could determine the
altitude. Attitude determines the lifestyle of a person and it develops when
perception is followed by projection, planning and actioning. Our attitude
towards life can have a significant positive impact on shaping our quality of
life”. He also expressed that , “a positive (creative) attitude on the other
hand, is open, passionate, focused, and has many other attributes that leads
you in the direction of creative success. A positive and proactive attitude
always leads to success. It is thus, important to develop a positive attitude..
He emphasized that clearly defined goals, positive attitude and faith in your
capabilities, supported by an untiring commitment and toil could create wonders”
