inaugurates 3rd JDBI
Convocation
The 3rd Annual Convocation of J. D. Birla
Institute (JDBI) was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, His Excellency, Shri
Keshari Nath Tripathi, Honorable Governor of West Bengal, and the Chancellor,
Jadavpur University, at a gala function held at Vidya Mandir here today. At the
Convocation, 468 students received their degrees at the Convocation. Also,10 meritorious students, who were toppers in their
respective fields, were given University Gold Medals
by the Governor in the presence of Mrs Sumangala Birla, Chairperson Governing
Body of JDBI, Dr Deepali Singhee, Principal JDBI and other dignitaries, faculty
members, staff and students.
Congratulating the
students of JDBI, His Excellency, Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, said, “Learning
is a continuous process and will continue throughout your whole life. Education
should not be for only living but for life. The adage survival of the fittest
has now become survival of the most adaptable. You should dream big for the
future belongs to those who dream big and act with fortitude. Now the hour has
come for you students to discover your life and destiny. You should use your
knowledge wisely and discretely in life.”
“Focus on your
dreams and take calculated risks in life, don’t let failures come in the way of
realizing you fullest potential. It is your turn to take forward your life,
your family, society and the nation,” Shri Tripathi said.

Deepali Singhee, Principal, J D Birla Institute, said, “JDBI has through its
unique curriculum, supported by qualified faculties and teaching methods, has
carved out a niche among the Institutions.”

54 years ago,is an institute of higher learning

Food Science & Nutrition Management; Textile Science, Clothing &
fashion Studies; Interior Designing; Human Development; Commerce and Management,
both at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. It has a combined
strength of 1800 students and well-qualified faculty members and other staff.
The Institute has been ranked high amongst institutes of higher learning in the
country by several rating agencies including India Today, Career 360 and Times
Magazine.

Birla Institute, Kolkata, is a private unaided College affiliated to the
Jadavpur University, Kolkata, since 1963. Late Smt. Sushila Devi Birla
established a college for girls to provide scientific education to young women
from Kolkata's conservative family. Over the 50 glorious years, JDBI has grown
with the needs and demands of the changing times. The Institute has made rapid
strides over the decades to emerge as a centre of excellence. The name was
changed to J.D. Birla Institute in 2002 with the launch of a satellite campus
to house the co-educational Department of Management. Today the Institute,

(NAAC), provides graduate, post-graduate degrees under affiliation to Jadavpur University,
