In the second session Mr. Abhishek Roy (Head-SeMT) explained the importance of Digital India in context to the Indian society, he also pointed out the different aspect of the programme like the Digital locker, E-Kranti, Broadband Highways and many more. The nine pillars of the Digital India were discussed in detail and the students were made aware of various propositions made by the Government to implement it in a better manner.
Ms. Sarita Patel (NSS Regional Director) pointed out how the NSS volunteers can effectively implement the government project like digital India.
Other activities that grabbed the attention of the student were skit show competition, digital poster presentation and Quiz competition. The interesting part where the students enthusiastically participated was Idea Generation where students of both Jadavpur University and J.D. Birla Institute took part and each group came up with innovative ideas that the government could explore to encourage the rural youth to join the Digital India programme. All the groups came out with excellent ideas, but only one group was given the award for the Best idea. After all the events, 25 students were selected as Digital India Volunteers who will now play a pivotal role in spreading awareness regarding this campaign initiated by the Government of India.
