Udaan (100% scholarship program)
An initiative to make India Effectively Educated
Terapanth Professional Forum (TPF), a
charitable fund has declared today about its 100%
scholarship for promising students all over India through ‘Udaan’, a unique social education scheme. With its social welfare program, this project is aiming to provide
higher education to those meritorious students, who cannot pursue their studies
for financial crisis and might be forced to discontinue their education. This
cashless education initiative, Udaan provides direct help for admission.
Terapanth Professional Forum (TPF) is an
organization of professionals from the Jain Community. Its objective is to use
its expertise, experience and knowledge to serve the society at large in areas
of education, health, law and enterprise. It endeavors to act as an enabler and
catalyst to improve the quality of life for the members of the society at large
and currently has 20 branches.
Youth are the backbone of a
nation and literacy makes it stronger. Udaan, an initiative by Terapanth Professional Forum has taken the responsibility to educate the largest number of people
of this country to higher up the productivity. The
academic success of this community is appreciable.
This education initiative was
undertaken by TPF to provide 100% scholarship to 500 meritorious but
financially weak students, during admission year 2012. Generally, all social schemes require donation and only a certain percentage of
the amount drips down to the real needy. In Udaan unutilised capacity in the
higher education system has been identified and a system created for utilising
the same for the talented students of the society.
The uniquely designed scheme suggested that there is only an expense
on administrative cost of a few lacs, however the benefit delivered to society
runs into crores – it has a multiplier effect of many times the cost of running
the project.
The convener of the project ‘Udaan’ Mr. Pradip Chopra said, “Our
vision is to make it a 100x scheme i.e. Education worth 100 times the cost of
running the scheme is delivered to soceity. For example, if we spend Rs 10
lacs, we will get and allocate education seats whose total value of tution fee
waiver would tantamount to Rs 10 crores. Assuming a cost of Rs 3 lacs for a 3-4
year course, the same would be achieved by doing 300 plus seats every year.
Ultimately we plan to reach 1000 seats across India with a value of Rs 25
crores in the next 3 years.”
The colleges where sits are being reserved by TPF, have no cash
impact. All cash expenses like university fee, books etc come from students
only.
