MUKHERJEE, DGIT (INVESTIGATION-)EAST, Kolkata by EIRC of The ICAI, Kolkata on
Friday, the 11th April, 2014
The Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of The Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India (ICAI) organized “Seminar on Search, Seizure & Survey”
& “Interactive Session with the Honorable DGIT-Investigation (East)”for
Chartered Accountants, on Friday, 11th April 2014 at ICAI,
Bhawan, 7 Russell Street, Kolkata-700071.
ShriGopal Mukherjee,Director General of I.Tax, (Investigation) East, along with other
official from investigations wing attended and interacted with the members.
CA. Subhash Chandra Saraf, Chairman, EIRC
welcomed the DGIT (Inv) East and also delegates and stated that EIRC is privileged
to have the presence of the DGIT (Inv) East. He stressed the need for better
compliance by the parties searched and also placed his views before the
authorities for better administration of search and survey proceedings so that
process is smooth without any hindrance.
ShriGopal Mukherjee, DGIT (Inv) in his
interaction stated that the assesses should not get panicked by Income Tax search&
survey but should cooperate and provide correctfacts to the Department. He
further stated thatofficers are not supposed to exert any
pressure on the party during search & survey operation. He also stated that
their main focus is to identify correct & proper disclosure of the income
and assets of the party searched. He also addressed large number of queries of
themembers in relation to search and survey proceedings and assured that
department will take all possible steps to remove or solve administrative
issues cropping up during and after the search and survey proceedings.He also
mentioned that he is happy to note that Chartered Accountants representing in
the department on behalf of their clients are partners with the government and
they are lending their helping hand in the process for better tax collection
and compliances for the Department.
CA S.S. Gupta & CA JineshVazara spoke about various issues related to
Search and Seizure and also deliberated upon various judicial pronouncements
recently with respect to search and survey proceedings.
