CALCUTTA BUSINESS SCHOOL

CONVOCATION AT CALCUTTA BUSINESS SCHOOL
Calcutta Business School, a Business School of repute in Kolkata, set up by Shikhshayatan Foundation under the under the leadership of reputed industrialists like Mr. S. K. Birla, Mr. B. K. Jhawar, and Mr. B. D. Sureka and experienced corporate leaders and reputed academicians, conferred Post Graduate Diploma in Management to the students who graduated in 2012.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Girish Khaitan, presiding over as the Chairman of the Convocation proceedings, Calcutta Business School said that the School was set up with an objective to develop future leaders with the requisite skills and competencies which India needs in tens of thousands to fuel its growing economy. He said that developing managerial and leadership manpower with the right skills and competencies was critical in the socio-economic and socio-cultural context in India as on one hand there was a huge supply of graduates and post-graduates thanks to participation of private sector in education but on the other hand employability of the graduates and post-graduates, especially in technical fields like Engineering and Management, was plummeting to as low as 20-25%. He opined that Indian education sector was producing the numbers but the competencies of the graduates were increasingly being questioned.
The Chief Guest at the Convocation was Mr. P. R. Ramesh, Chairman, Deloitte India, said that change was needed in Management education in India as at many of our business education institutions, the management and entrepreneurship curriculum were outdated and detached from industry requirements. According to him, the teaching methodologies were mostly archaic and based on rote learning. He elaborated that Managerial and leadership competencies did not get developed by cramming notes.
Dr. Goutam Sengupta, Director, Calcutta Business School, inaugurated Industry-Institute Collaboration Cell of the Business School which is constituted with reputed corporate and business leaders. The Industry-Institute Collaboration Cell will be engaged in a continuous dialogue with the industry leaders to research and learn about the changing needs of managerial and leadership manpower in industries. The Cell will be keen to work on joint research projects with the industries and promote a platform where knowledge sharing among academic fraternity, students, executives and business leaders happen. The Cell plans to initiate studies in various areas in which industries are facing challenges and are looking for feasible solutions.  The cell will also contribute to the adoption of a process of dynamic and evolving curriculum and pedagogy, which will be implemented through structured studies and learning from interactions with all stakeholders in business and industries. This initiative of Calcutta Business School is unique.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sengupta said that Business Schools in India were facing a great danger of being irrelevant to the requirements of the industry unless they evolved their curriculum and teaching methodologies to address the needs of doing and managing business in the fast changing socio-economic, socio-political and business landscape. He said that academics detached from the realities and intricacies of industries and business were of little value and that kind of academics would not benefit any students. He further elaborated that academics which were not evaluated strictly on various parameters of quality linked to industry requirements would be wasted and would not contribute anything to the nation’s need.

CALCUTTA BUSINESS SCHOOL
Learning and fun at Zeron
Reshmi Bansal, an IIM Ahmedabad alumnus and a renowned author of best-selling books like Stay Hungry Stay Foolish, Connect The Dots, I have a dream and Poor Little Rich Slum, acquainted a gathering of undergraduate students and aspiring management graduates at the campus of Calcutta Business School at Bishnupur about the pitfalls of living a high life at the corridors of corporate edifices. She spoke about the workload, the stress and compromises one had to make to lead a so called ‘successful’ life. She emphasized on living a life based on human values and following ethical routes to success in the corporate world. She also talked about how to seek and maintain a fine balance between work and life and why and how one should always ask questions to oneself as to whether one is doing what one likes or merely following a trend.
Reshmi Bansal was speaking on the occasion of Zeron, a Management Fest organised by the students of Calcutta Business School, an autonomous institute of repute set up by Shikhshayatan Foundation. In the event, Akash Gautam, India’s one of the most favourite motivators and corporate trainers, delivered a unique mantra of building and maintaining relationships in a workshop. The workshop was called Lovepal Bill: For the Corrupt Dil and aimed to advise participants about how to build and manage relationships – not only romantic relationships but relationships with everyone – parents, teachers, colleagues, relatives and all. The workshop was attended by a large number of students and corporate executives from Kolkata.
The day-long event at the picturesque campus of Calcutta Business School had participants from various business schools like ICFAI Business School, IISWBM, Army School of Management, Praxis Business School, and Globsyn and undergraduate colleges like Shikhshayatan College in Kolkata. Students were engaged throughout the day in various competitive events like Marquemorphosis (Marketing Game), Brainstorm (Logo design competition), Optimus prime (Operation Game), Finomenal (Finance Game), Comic Con (Stand-up comedy) and Word on the street (Street Play).
In the evening, Zeron hosted East-o-nasia vanity, a fashion show to showcase ethnic wear of the generation Y in the eastern, south-eastern and far-eastern countries of the world. Judging the participants were Shatarupa Pyne and Shashank Arora, renowned models from Kolkata. The participants showcased beautiful ethnic wear with a range of hues and colors, a variety of textures and unique designs.
Enthralling the participants in the chilly evening after the fashion show was Underground Authority, a hot favourite band at the college campuses of Kolkata which has captured the imagination of the youth with their unique alternative rock and rap music with soul stirring lyrics delivering socio-political and anti-capitalism messages. They played Microphone, Realize, You can’t stop us, and some other of their original compositions. Their renditions of the remixes of some popular A. R. Rahman’s songs like Urvashi, Humma Humma, and Rukmani made the huge crowd go into a frenzy. Their remixed rendition of Dabangg soundtracks, which they had composed on request from Salman Khan, made the crowd at Zeron dancing late into night. All in all, it was a day of learning and fun at Calcutta Business School.

JD Birla Institute (JDBI) organized Alumni Nite on a barge, ‘Reviera’ The barge was beautifully decorated with lights which attracted many viewers nearby. The journey started from Outram Ghat at 5.30pm. It was really a great idea to organize the event in a place from where one can view the Howrah Bridge lit up spontaneously owing to the Christmas celebrations and New Year festivities. The students really enjoyed the event with an eclectic mix of music, ambience and yummy food. The students also took the initiative to tap their foot on the beats played by the band. This event gave a wonderful opportunity to the former students to meet their old buddies and cherish their memories of their college life. The cheer, warmth and liveliness made the occasion highly memorable.

Kolkata welcomes Spiritual guru Master Minood

THE PRESENCE OF SPIRITUAL REBIRTHING GURU DRAWS KOLKATANS TO AN INNER JOURNERY OF SPIRITUAL AWAKENING AND MYSTICAL EXPERIENCE UNDER THE SPIRITUAL MASTER'S GUIDANCE.

Kolkata today witnessed the gracious presence of Master Minood, a mystique from south India and a spiritual guide, who helps inner awakening through breath meditation through his spiritual organisation Temple of Inner Wisdom. Master Minood started a series of events with a talk on “Shift or Surrender – Year 2012” with a panel of eminent guest speakers. A musical program followed by a series of breath-meditation sessions were held.

Bengal is the spiritual capital of the country. Spiritual renaissance of India started from here. Bengal is very close to my heart and soul,” said Master Minood, who is the spiritual head of The Temple of Inner Wisdom which has spread across India and abroad. Kolkata has a one of the largest membership base of The Temple of Inner Wisdom.

“Understanding the spiritual side of oneself is so very important for inner peace. Only by balancing the material and spiritual aspect of ourselves in life can we grow and feel the bliss and calmness that we all look forward to in life. An inward journey to understanding ourselves and our purpose in taking birth is what will bring the courage and confidence in each one to face the material world. Meditation being a great tool for this has to be practiced by on and all for inner peace and World Peace, Love and Grace,” he said.

Master Minood is more of a spiritual scientist who, in his own inimitable way, guides people into inner awakening through breath meditation. People are enchanted by his simplicity and the serenity of a man who is a renowned Spiritual Rebirthing Guru. With his deep clarity on spiritual subjects, Master Minood de-mystifies spirituality and helps people flow in the waters of awakening. Speaking with profound wisdom and compassion, he helps each one, to turn inwards and operate from the space of Spiritual Surrender that brings joy and peace in life.
Master Minood has dedicated his time and energy to his Life's purpose of transmuting each one into a consciousness in pure awareness. He reaches out to people by conducting Meditation sessions with the sacred Breath. Meditating with him is an enlivening and deeply touching mystical experience where he brings out the sacredness of the Breath.
Anyone who is serious about his/her spiritual journey can grow by leaps and bounds if they take the practices diligently. He emphasizes the need to practice Truth always and as a way of life. He says that spiritual progress can happen only when one embraces Truth.
"The brilliance of your Light is based on
The depth of your relation with Truth!" says Master Minood
.
Master Minood's revolutionary contribution in the spiritual arena is the mystical, divinely guided process of  "Spiritual Rebirthing with Mystical Breath" which was revealed to him by the great and ancient ones. This esoteric practice from the immortal yogis of the Himalayas, help one to access the most elevated states of consciousness and to eliminate karmic baggage from the past. Rebirthing with Master Minood can evoke a sense of deep knowing, wellness, peace and tranquillity, replacing fear, stress, and illness.

Master Minood was born in 1965 into a middle class family in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. 'My father is my first  spiritual Guru as he was the one who initiated me into the world of spirituality', says Master Minood. While working in the banking industry, the call to plunge into the world of spirituality came in the year 1996 when he learned meditation from the soft spoken Late Guruji Krishnananda of Bangalore. After a few years, spiritual life took a different turn when he met Brahmarshi Patriji of Hyderabad. The journey to develop Self, turned into a journey to spread the language of the Soul across the world. One thing led to the other and in the year 2007 he snapped ties with the corporate world and the world of organised living!
With no back up plans, life without a job helped him in practicing a life in surrender. It took him to the ancient spiritual process of rebirthing which awakened the hidden memories of the past. In 2009, he established the Temple of Inner Wisdom as a space of pure consciousness, with the sole purpose of awakening souls from spiritual amnesia.
