People are realizing the psychological and social value of green plants which not only soothes the stressed human beings. Today, a number of urban and semi-urban cities are paying the price for having neglected the environment in their quest for development. The use of House plants in interior spaces is now seen as a contributor to the financial success of malls, hotels and banks.
For several decades, men have been trying to impose his will and mastery over nature and trying to wipe out forests, creating concrete giants and filling up water bodies to suit its needs. As a consequence, nature has retaliated furiously, showing that man is powerless to play with nature. With the increasing population in the cities like Kolkata, houses with garden spaces are a luxury which a few can afford. To add beauty to a house as well as to get immense pleasure and fun from nature, House Plants play a significant role.
Growing plants help not only in improving décor of the room but also in controlling temperature, minimizing sound pollution etc.
There are all house plants such as Palm, Bonsai, Medicinal plants, Ornamental Foliage plants etc. There are more number of pots exhibited this year compared to earlier years.
With a view to encourage School children, some schools have been introduced in House Plant Show-2013.
Nurseries are provided stalls free of any charge to display and sell the same to the visitors at reasonable prices. Visitors get a chance to buy attractive house plants as stated in the forgoing paragraph.
