ILead Students and Staff members Visited Yunnan University in Kunming, China under students exchange program

Kolkata,2013  :  iLEAD’s vision while signing the MOU with Yunnan University in Kunming was to give it’s students an edge over others of being the first to have an exposure on the Indo-Chinese trade and India-China relationship. To strengthen this tie-up and under the student exchange program, some of the students of iLEAD along with some staff members went to China on an eight-day visit from 15th to 23rd Oct., 2013. The trip was kick-started by a two day visit to Lijiang where the students visited the old town which has retained a historic townscape of high quality and authenticity.  Its architecture is notable for the blending of elements from several cultures over many centuries.  Lijiang also has an ancient water supply system of great complexity that still functions efficiently today.  The students’ next stop was Kunming, China where Yunnan Normal University Business School is situated.
It was a great learning experience for the students as they interacted with their Chinese counterparts.
The students were welcomed by the President of the Yunnan University who genuinely wanted to take the collaboration to the next level. He wanted it to be a role model for other colleges/institutes to follow. The classes organized by the University were interactive, informative and enriching.  The subjects covered ranged from common history of the two countries to marriage laws in China and India and to finance and economy of the two countries.  The cultural scenario of the two countries was also discussed in great details and the input from
the students of iLEAD was greatly appreciated. The closing ceremony too was an emotional one when Mr Chopra talked about ways and means of bridging the gap between the two countries at different levels. At the end of the program the students were all given a souvenir and awarded a certificate of participation also. What iLEAD initiated earlier in the year, the Indian government followed it up by signing the boundary agreement to help restore peace and tranquility in the border area and also signing an agreement on co-operation on road transport and setting up of sister cities between Kolkata-Kunming besides Delhi-Beijing and Bangaluru-Chengdu.
