Shri Anil Kumar Agarwal, IAS took over the charge of the Director General of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation( ESIC) under Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India at its Headquarter on  26.07.2012.   Shri Agarwal is an IAS officer of 1981 batch. Before this he was serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Animal Resources Development Department, Govt. of West Bengal.

Shri Anil Kumar Agarwal, IAS has got vast experience of governance and management in the Ministries of Environment & Forests and Agriculture & Co-operation of Central Govt. and in the field of Revenue, Urban Development, Labour & Employment, Science & Technology, Consumer Affairs and Agriculture in the State Govt.

Shri Agarwal is a graduate of IIT Kanpur and post-graduate of IIM Bangalore. He has also earned post-graduate degree of Master of International Affairs from Columbia University, New York, USA.

Calcutta Business School Research for inclusive growth of West Bengal

Calcutta Business School (CBS), city-based based leading residential B-School, has initiated a project to conduct a study on inclusive growth and Sustainable Development in West Bengal.

The report, which would be a collaborative effort with Eastern Michigan University (EMU), USA, would focus on agriculture, agro-based industries, tourism, IT & ITeS and education. A CBS team along with a six member teacher-student delegation from Eastern Michigan University, USA, recently met West Bengal government officials to seek vital inputs and approval for the project to work out a comprehensive growth model for the state.

This is the first initiative between CBS and Eastern Michigan University (EMU), USA, which already has established linkages in order to draw upon their experience and expertise. Dr Goutam Sengupta, Chairman of Management Development & Research Centre, CBS, said, "West Bengal is at the crossroads of a huge opportunity for growth. The joint research by CBS would identify those areas and prepare an effective delivery methodology which would ensure inclusive growth in a sustainable manner in the state."

The purpose of the visit of EMU is to understand cross-cultural business practices and exchange ideas. CBS and EMU prepared a project on Bengal's industrial resurgence which was presented at the CBS campus of CBS last week. The project team included senior faculty members, industry experts and post graduate management students.

The joint research would generate awareness among the rural masses about the progress and the development that is taking place and make them an active party to the development process that would plug the gaps that stand in the way of fruits of development from reaching the masses.

Greenland in association with Darpani staged SHYAMA – the dusky dame in a contemporary and pioneering form

India Green Reality Pvt Ltd and Darpani, a premiere dance institution jointly organized one of the legendary and the most distinguished lyrical tales of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, “Shyama- the dusky dame”, which was performed at GD Birla Sabhaghar. The city witnessed the classic and the awe-inspiring performances by many eminent artistes like Arnab Bandhopadhyay, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Sreela Majumdar, Satinath Mukherjee, Soumili Biswas, Rajesh Karmakar, Sraboni Sen and many others.

Shyama, the lyrical saga, was magnificently narrated by the dance performances of Arnab Badhopadhyay, Soumili Biswas, Rajib Mondal, Raktim Goswami along with the members of Darpani. Their executions of the act were balanced and were truly mind-boggling. The music for this act, Shyama, was exclusively composed by one of the most talented music composers Surojit Das and the astounding act was directed by Ratul Ganguly. The songs sung by the renowned and reputed singers like Sraboni Sen, Promit Sen, Debadrito and the Artist of Sphulinga fascinated and captivated everyone present there by their soulful voices.  The role of Shyama was acted by Soumili Biswas, Bojroshen by Arnab Bandhopadhyay and Uttiyo was performed by Raktim Goswami. The entire concept of Shyama was conceived and choreographed by Arnab Bandhopadhyay, the Founder of Darpani that was established in the year 1995 and have participated in many of the prestigious dance festivals across the globe.
