India Green Reality acknowledged Rabindranath Tagore, a Renaissance man, by releasing a book - VANDANA

India Green Reality Pvt. Ltd. (IGR), a company that provides real quality constructions and deluxe living spaces, today unraveled a book named – “VANDANA” on the occasion of 151^st birth anniversary of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore, a Renaissance man, who was not only a Nobel laureate poet, writer, philosopher but also the ambassador of Indian culture to the rest of the world.  The event that took place at Science City Auditorium was witnessed by many well known and prominent artists, philosophers, writers, theorists and intellectuals like Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winner Actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Actresses like Raima Sen and Riya Sen, Bollywood playback singer Kunal Ganjawala, Singer June Banerjee and many others who were not only reputed but also profound in their respective fields.

Actor Soumitra Chatterjee unveiled the book , “VANDANA”,  a book that enumerates the rare collection of Stamps (published by various countries), some of the write-ups that are mainly drawn from the lane of views by distinguished and legendary personalities, some exceptional and extraordinary photographs that are only one its kind along with an unpublished letter by Kaviguru himself to Late Amiyo Bagchi, lyricist of yesteryear about the play Raktokarobi written by Tagore himself. It also contains many diary pages full of heartfelt tributes to Tagore by the eminent personalities of India, from different fields of art and culture. ‘Vandana’ is an archive of such unrevealed treasures. This book is a sort of asset to the readers or followers of Kaviguru that can be treasured and cherished lifelong. One can revive the thoughts and beliefs of Tagore who upholds universal humanistic values. This book was published in order to pay tribute and homage to this great man who has reshaped his region’s literature and music.

Kolkata:  Shri Shikshayatan School, one of the well-known and recognized institutes for Girls affiliated under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) and West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) in Kolkata procured a great triumph scoring outstanding marks in Higher Secondary as well as in Secondary examination this year. This year 235 students appeared in HS examination and 277 students appeared in Secondary examination from the institute out of which cent percent students were successful.

Simran Sureka topped the school in WBCHSE examination by scoring 88.6% in Commerce. Vishakha Jiwarajka and Prachi Agrawal were the joint close second securing 86.2%. Ruchika Bairagara with 86% marks is the 3^rd highest scorer in school. All of these students have made the school proud with their great performances in the HS examination.

Simran Sureka said, “My father was my actual tutor and inspiration. I used to study for not more than 2-3 hours daily but with full concentration. I believe in studying with full dedication and completing the syllabus beforehand so as not to run behind notes in the eleventh hour. I am glad to achieve this position and now it’s a challenge for me to maintain this position. I would like to thank my parents and all my friends and my school faculty for believing in me.”

Shri Shikshsyatan has an impressive performance in Secondary (Madhyamik) examination too where its top three scorers attained above 90% and 266 students out of 277 have obtained above 60 per cent.

The top trio, Bratati Sanyal, Kuheli Dutta and Sayeri Mukhopadhyay scored 91.3%, 91.1% and 90.9% respectively in Secondary examination.

Ms Indrani Ganguly, Principal, Shri Shikshayatan School, a Distinguished Fullbright Awards in Teaching Program (University of Maryland) scholar said, “This year the students have performed really well in Higher Secondary and Secondary examinations. I am very happy and delighted to say that most of the students have scored amazingly well. Especially Simran Sureka and Bratati Sanyal have made the school proud. The rate of success has increased this year tremendously in both the board examinations.”

Compared to the last year (Batch 2010-2011), there is an increase in the 1^st Division by 5.59%. In the current year, 47 students out of 235 have obtained between 80-90% and one out of every three students scored between 70-80% thus raising the academic excellence bar.

Over the years, Shri Shikshayatan School has nurtured its pupils to grow up to be world citizens – to adjust, adapt and work for the betterment of social and national development. The aims are to work for the all round development of its pupils, bring out the hidden talent and potentiality of every child, encourage the students to participate in intra and inter-school competitions, nurture an environment for freedom of thought, expression and belief.

Basic electronics workshop at Shri Shikshyatan

Kolkata:  A workshop on basic electronics is going on at Shri Shikshyatan School. It is jointly organized by Kolkata-based Kalpana Chawla Centre for Space and Nano Sciences and Shri Shikshyatan School and will end on May 3, 2012.

This is for the first time that such a workshop is being held at Shri Shikshyatan School.  The workshop, which started on April 23, 2012 is a basic training program for students of age group 18-21 years. Students who have scored 80% and above in board exams and are from class XI to 1st year B.Sc/BTech/BE (excluding applied Electronics and Electronics and Communication Engineering) are eligible to take part in the workshop.

Dr Santanu Datta, founder director of Kalpana Chawla Centre for Space and Nano Sciences said, “These workshops are held to encourage bright students through practical training so that they can assemble kits themselves and also design and perform scientific experiments themselves in their own field of study using electronic equipment.”  In short, Dr Datta added, such workshops would help students remove the fear about machines.
